1. Who we are
IncomeBuddie is a personal finance application built for Nigerian users. We help you track your income, spending, bills, obligations and savings so you always know exactly how much free money you have. We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
2. What data we collect
We collect the following data when you use IncomeBuddie:
- Email address and display name
- Income amounts and sources you log
- Spending transactions you record
- Bills and obligations you add
- Savings goals and contributions
- Profile photo (if uploaded)
- App usage data (anonymous, via PostHog)
3. How we use your data
We use your data solely to provide the IncomeBuddie service:
- To calculate your free money number
- To show your financial breakdown
- To track your savings progress
- To send bill reminders (when enabled)
- To improve the app (anonymous usage only)
We never sell your data to third parties. We never use your financial data for advertising. Your income and spending data is never shared with anyone.
4. Cookies
We use two types of cookies:
- Functional cookies: Required for login and keeping you signed in. These cannot be declined as the app cannot work without them.
- Analytics cookies: Used by PostHog to understand how people use the app (anonymous data only). You can decline these and the app will still work normally.
5. Your rights under NDPA
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- Access all data we hold about you
- Export your data in a readable format
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time

6. Data security
Your data is stored securely in Supabase (EU region) with encryption at rest and in transit. We use HTTP-only cookies for authentication which prevents JavaScript access to your session token. We never log financial amounts in our server logs.
7. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account all your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to 2 years.
